Divine Miss Sarah's Yarn
Divine Miss Sarah (or Sarah for short) came to our farm from a large farm in Oregon. Sarah is a big, strong girl, but she is rather timid. She hates to travel. Once I traveled with Sarah in my van. I glanced in the rear view mirror to see Sarah lying on her side huffing and puffing like she was in labor. I was shocked, since I did not think she was even pregnant. I pulled over and began to watch her. She showed all the signs of labor. My mind raced as I tried to figure out what to do. I had no supplies with me. I decided the best thing to do was to get as home as quickly as possible. As we drove along and time went by, I began to realize that Sarah was not in labor at all - but was simply a nervous traveler. As soon as we arrived at home and I opened the van door, Sarah jumped out and started grazing as though nothing had ever happened.
Sarah has the most awesome crias (babies). She never ceases to amaze us! But, she is a bit of a nervous mother (gee, I can relate to that). Sarah must know where her cria is at all times. If she loses sight of her cria, even for one second, she becomes frantic until she finds her baby. And no other alpaca dare pick on Sarah's babies!!
Sarah's latest cria is a girl named Vienna, who was born in May 2008. |
