Zurich's Alpaca Yarn from Maryland's Pax River Alpacas

About Zurich

Zurich arrived 2 days before Halloween on October 29, 2006. He wasn't on the ground very long until he tried to make friends with everyone. That is, except the guinea hens, who he enjoyed chasing around.

He's always been quite a connoisseur of good alpaca food and is known for never turning down a meal. His mother, Morning Glory got a bit weary of his frequent and fullsome nursing at times, and would give him a good kick.

Zurich's best friend was Amman, a maroon/brown colored suri. Zurich and Amman played for hours on end. One of their favorite games was king of the hill. They loved to knock each other off a dirt mound in the pasture.

Zurich, who we affectionately call, "Z," is all grown up now.  His appetite is grown up too.  But don't get the wrong impression; Z is slim and trim and still sweet and loving.  Oddly enough, Z is the friendliest toward people carrying alpaca feed.

Z is a very handsome and sturdy boy with gigantic bones and a lovely fleece.  His face fills up with fiber in the winter, making him quite dashing!

This past spring we dyed yarn made from Z's fiber with Easter egg dye. The colors were bright and bold and lovely.
