Asmara's Yarn

About Asmara

If Asmara were human, she would be everybody's best friend.  I could picture her doing volunteer work always helping the underdog.  She'd make a great nurse.  Needless to say, Asmara is a sweetie who tries to please everyone.  The kids have nicknamed her, "Marty."  Asmara is the capital of Eritrea in North Africa, located near Ethiopia.

When Asmara was a baby (cria) her mother had super dry skin on her udder.  We put a vaseline type cream on it, so Asmara always had a greasy face.  Asmara's mother, Alexandria, was also a sweetie.  Unfortunately, she had a torsion during a pregnancy, had to have a C-section and never really recovered.  While Alexandria was not faring so well, Asmara stayed by her mother's side and nurtured her until the end.

Asmara was really shy and submissive when she was young, but after she matured she learned how to stick up for herself.

Asmara was "supposed" to be dark brown.  Her mother was a lovely medium fawn color and her dad was dark brown.   Both parents won multiple awards in numerous shows for their awesome fleece.  They certainly passed their positive attributes on to Asmara.  She has a lovely, buttery soft fleece which has made a fantastic yarn.

Asmara enjoys greeting our farm visitors and loves to have her neck rubbed.  She will often follow visitors around (until Madonna pushes her out of the way and takes over - oh well!)
